The Justice of the Peace is a non-partisan race and I think it should remain that way. I have held meet and greets at people’s houses who are Republicans, Democrats, and any other party affiliation. The reality is, everyone in Carson City deserves a Justice of the Peace that will treat them fairly and doing so requires that the law and the facts come first. I have been on both sides of cases, as a defense attorney and a prosecutor, and know how important fairness is to these decisions. I have people who support me who are defense attorneys, prosecutors, members of the mental health community, business owners, and from every walk of life. As Justice of the Peace, I do not think it is appropriate to ask for endorsements from groups of people, because it gives the impression of favoritism. I am seeking the Carson City communities’ endorsement, no one else’s.
